At the opening race of the 2009 World Championships in Liberec, CZ I skied my best-ever major championship distance result in the 10km classic. It was snowing and the conditions were a little tricky, but I skied aggressively the whole way to finish 26th. This race was not my focus for the championship but a great way to kick start the week.
It was great to be back in the A-final, and in contention for the medals today at the World Cup freestyle sprint in Valdidentro, Italy. I led both my quarterfinal and semi-final heats, and attacked on the big climb. In the A-final I was in solid position for the podium when I lost my balance and crashed. I had to settle for sixth. I'm at least grateful to be finding my racing form with a week to go until World Championships. For the full story, click here.
After winning my first world cup in Rybinsk, Russia last season, I was excited to try and repeat again this year. Unfortunately, I have been struggling to find my racing form and after an unlucky move in the quarterfinals, I had to settle for 14th place instead. For the full story, click here.
Back in Europe again for the second half of the season. Kicked off this Otepaa WC weekend with a 10km classic. Skied an identical race to the 10km here last year, but improved my place from 42nd to 33rd. In the classic sprint I posted one of my better classic sprint qualifiers in 15th and ended up 16th overall. For the full story, click here.
Liz Stephen and I teamed up for a fourth place finish at this weekend's Whistler World Cup freestyle team sprint. It was really fun to mix it up and almost make the podium on the 2010 Olympic courses. I won a lunge in our semi-final heat to automatically advance to the final where we each moved up steadily through the laps. Liz attacked on the final climb and tagged off to me in fifth. I was able to move us into fourth and was gaining on the podium positions until I just ran out of trail. To read the full story, click here.
Today I got to make a full run around next year's Olympic classic sprint course and narrowly missed advancing to the semi-finals. After qualifying 16th I skied well through my quarterfinal heat and just got out double-poled over the final 30m. It was great to be able to experience the Olympic course at full speed. Whistler Olympic Park has been a great venue so far! My final place was 14th. To read more, click here.
With just over one year to go until the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, excitement is high going into this weekend's world cup races at the Olympic venue. Tomorrow we will race a classic sprint, there is a pursuit scheduled for Saturday and a team sprint on Sunday. Having already come to Whistler several times over the past year, it's starting to feel like home. More reports to follow from this week's races!
Fast and Female hosts it's first international event in Anchorage, Alaska! A big thanks to all the instructors and volunteers that came out and helped inspire over 160 girls ages 9-19. We skied, we ate, we watched cool ski videos and autographed posters. For pictures and more info on the event Click Here
Nationals returned to Anchorage for the first time since 1994 just in time for one of the longest cold snaps in Alaska's recent history. Races were delayed and canceled and only two of the four scheduled events were contested. We managed a 5km skate and classic sprint. To read the full story Click Here
A city sprint along the Rhine river in Dusseldorf, Germany was the last stop on the World Cup Tour before Christmas. It was my first time racing in the German city and I was excited for the short and fast course. Unfortunately, the course ended a little too quickly, and I hadn't gone fast enough. I finished in 40th place and did not advance to the heats. Quite a contrast after winning my first world cup just one year earlier. For the full story Click Here
The race season begins in two weeks and that means I have just a few more days left at home before I hit the road. I've been super busy finishing up my last big training block of the prep period, as well as going on a few fun little escapades with family and friends. It's been a wild few months since my last ski race and after a long period of hard work, I'm getting really excited to see what gains I've made. To prepare for the upcoming Winter Olympics that are now just 1.5 years away, I have joined my fellow US National teammates in Whistler, BC for a 10 day dryland camp. We will be training daily at the 2010 Olympic venue, making it our home away from home. For updates from the camp Click Here

Just in time for the upcoming summer Olympics, Subway of Alaska recently wrapped up production for a new round of commercials featuring me. In one of the commercials, the theme is "absolute freshness" and features a re-creation scene of my wedding. Look for the new commercials on TV soon!!
I just got down off of Eagle Glacier for our second APU on-snow camp of the summer. It hardly seemed like summer up there, with night-time temperatures below freezing, fresh snow flurries and powder snow conditions. We didn’t quite get away with hard wax this camp, but it pretty close. The skiing was awesome! Read More
